About YR20
YR20 is a global company providing world-class products and services in the field of network testing, analysis and reliability. Incorporated in Texas, USA, we have two wholly owned operating subsidiaries to service our growing international customer base — YR20 (US) LLC in Texas, USA and YR20 (UK) Ltd. in Aberdeen, Scotland.
As a privately owned company, YR20 is not affiliated with any manufacturer, supplier, integrator, outsourcer or consultants and has no informal arrangements with any telecommunications or networking equipment manufacturer or supplier. The only contractual relationship we have with a telecommunications or networking equipment manufacturer, supplier or service provider is as a normal customer for services. That means we can provide independent factual information to help you solve your network issues.
The three principals are President Mike Hinz, located in Houston, Texas, and Executive Vice Presidents Tim Everitt and Doug Stevenson, both located in Aberdeen, Scotland. All three principals have extensive worldwide operating experience, having held positions of responsibility on virtually every continent in the world.
Mike Hinz, President
Mr. Hinz graduated from Bethel College, Newton, Kansas with a bachelor of science degree in physics. He worked for Halliburton Energy Services for 28 years in a number of locations and positions including Field Engineer in the Logging and Perforating (L&P) group, Division Engineering and Technical Manager for the Mid-continent Division, District Operations Manager for L&P operations in Eastern Indonesia, Operations Manager for the Gulf of Mexico L&P business, Technology Manager of Systems integration in Houston and finally Director of Real Time Operations where he led the initiative to define and deploy true remote site operations globally. He also defined the business and technical processes need, and developed products and process solutions by working with engineering and development groups. Mr. Hinz is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Society of Professional Well Log Analysts, is a board member of Satcon Advisory Board and holds a U.S. patent for Methods of Downhole Testing Subterranean Formations and Associated Apparatus Therefor.
Tim Everitt, Executive Vice President
Mr. Everitt holds a bachelor of science degree from Aberdeen University and a master of science degree from Robert Gordon's Institute of Technology, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He joined Scientific Control Systems in Aberdeen, where his assignments included Fortran programming for near-real time analysis of oilfield data. Mr. Everitt worked for Kodak in the U.K. as a Network Engineer and Systems Programmer. He began working with BP in Aberdeen as a Network Engineer and Systems Programmer providing network engineering and operations support. Mr. Everitt was responsible for deploying the first networked VAX/VMS systems and Unix systems offshore for crucial directional drilling support and personnel tracking safety systems. As Technical Director at Accommodation Services Management he was responsible for designing, implementing and integrating many of the first full Ethernet LANs for offshore drilling platforms in the North Sea and developed the Oil Partnering Network (OPnet), which was acquired by Data Marine Systems (DMS) and was subsequently acquired by Schlumberger.
Douglas Stevenson, Executive Vice President
Mr. Stevenson was a founding member of Accommodation Services Management and provided a range of network and telecommunications services to the North Sea oil and gas industry. He developed the Oil Partnering Network (OPnet) which was then acquired by Data Marine Systems (DMS). Mr. Stevenson became Network Services Manager at DMS before accepting responsibility for launching DMS Satellite services in the United States. As General Manager, he was responsible for implementing a commercial satellite teleport in Houston to service the energy industry in the Gulf of Mexico. During this time, Mr. Stevenson also led a team that developed connectivity options and support for corporate LANs.

YR20 systems use open source software. This software has been released by the copyright owners using the Gnu Public License, usually known as the "GPL".
YR20 systems are generally provided to customers on a service basis. Some people argue that this does not constitute "distribution" of the systems as defined in the GPL. However, to be fully compliant with both the spirit and the letter of the GPL, YR20 makes the following information available:

- The principal GPL components that YR20 uses are:
- The Gnu/Linux Operating System Kernel.

YR20 systems are based on the RedHat Fedora Linux distribution from: fedora.redhat.com and use the RedHat Package Manager (RPM) software management system.
